Part 1: Backstage BJJ Training with Trivium’s Matt Heafy

During Trivium’s European tour, I had the chance to jump on the mats backstage with Matt Heafy for a quick one-minute flow roll.

Even in a short session, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is all about movement, timing, and enjoying the exchange. That’s exactly what this series captures: authentic backstage training between a touring musician and a BJJ black belt before showtime.

This is Part 1 of our backstage rolling sessions. Over the next videos, you’ll see more of our technical exchanges, different positions, and how we make the most of every minute on the mats while on tour.

The Backstage Jiu-Jitsu Project documents my mission of bringing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to touring artists around the world, creating unique training experiences behind the scenes of live music.

🎥 Watch Part 1 below, and don’t miss Parts 2, 3, and 4 coming soon.
